so is it uhh cannabis err what?....

Hemp or Marijuana? That’s the question everyone is asking.

In short, hemp is CBD-dominant and can’t get you high while ‘marijuana’ is rich in THC thus rich in psychoactivity.

If you fear the psychoactivity of a cannabis, you can rest easy knowing that a long as a product contains CBD in higher ratios than THC you will N E V E R get a psychoactive response from it, regardless if its origins were in hemp or ‘marijuana’.

A more elaborate answer to the question of the year is by American (& Canadian) Federal definition: ‘hemp’ contains less than 0.3% THC and is therefore an industrial agricultural product legal in all 50 states. While ‘marijuana’ contains higher concentrations of ‘the psychoactive pot chemical, THC’ (that’s literally how WebMD chooses to define THC, LOL) and is still considered a Schedule I Substance by the Federal Government:

[[Schedule I

Schedule I drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Some examples of Schedule I drugs are:

heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote ]].

But do you know WHEN or better yet, WHY these definitions came to fruition? I’ll tell ya, it had little to do with the THC content and everything to do with racism, classism, and mind controlling the masses. If this already sounds too woo-woo for you then just quit and consider yourself satisfied with the Wikipedia definition but if you’re curious as to why this question is actually extremely political then please read on.

in the state of Kentucky, cannabis usage is pretty much equal between people of color and white BUT (in 2014 it was calculated that) you are SEVEN TIMES more likely to ARRESTED for minor cannabis charges (minor possession, paraphernalia, etc) if your skin isn’t white. SEVEN TIMES.

one more time for the Sharon’s in the back…SEVEN TIMES MORE LIKE TO BE ARRESTED FOR CANNABIS USAGE IF YOU ARE NOT WHITE IN THE STATE OF KENTUCKY.

we have to do something about this.

where do we even begin?

let’s start by cutting ties with the racist, classist, and sexist -ly rooted phrase ‘marijuana’ (& other phrases like - but not limited to: devils lettuce, weed, dope, etc…) and call this mystical plant by ANY of the references humans have been using for CENTURIES:

cannabis - ganja - hemp - grass - hashish - pot - dodi - broccoli - dank - bud - flower - gage - smoke - maui wowie - jute - indica - reefer - skunk - herb - loco - slew - root - sativa - kush - bhang - mary jane - ace - alfalfa - green - green goddess - tree - da kine - chronic - doja - the ganj - sticky icky - kannabis - hanaf -

PS If you are drug tested by your employer, you should know that hemp-derived CBD will still contain trace amounts THC if it’s a genuine Full Spectrum Oil (FYI an oil CANNOT be full spectrum if it is THC-free…) and can trigger false positives on screens for Marijuana Metabolites. Since CBD is legal in all 50 states, it’s worth having a conversation with your boss or HR department so you can exercise your right to ingest this therapeutic herb- a secondary, more sensitive test can be performed that will show your THC levels are negligible compared to levels of someone ingesting THC-dominant cannabis strains.
